New DESS Material Attachment Adapter for DGSHAPE AK-1 Kit Expands the Custom Abutment Milling Capabilities of DWX-42W Wet Mill
Irvine, Calif., September 14, 2021 – Roland DGA’s DGSHAPE Americas dental business group has announced the availability of a new DESS® Material Attachment Adapter for its innovative AK-1 Abutment Kit designed for use with the DWX-42W wet dental mill. The new DESS Material Attachment Adapter complements the three existing AK-1 adapters currently available (NT Trading®, Medentika®, and GeoMedi®), further expanding the versatility and material capabilities of the DWX-42W for milling custom titanium abutments. DGSHAPE’s AK-1 Abutment Kit enables both clinicians and dental laboratories to offer full-service, high quality implant restorations in-house with precision and ease.
Equipped with a DWX-42W wet mill, an AK-1 Abutment Kit, and the appropriate material attachment adapter, any clinician or lab can begin offering custom abutments and implant-supported restorations in-house. Having this capability ensures greater control over the design process, while also significantly reducing both turnaround time and cost.

The AK-1 Abutment Kit includes a set of titanium dedicated milling tools, a special purpose filter tray, a torque screwdriver, a hexagonal wrench, a receptacle tray, and a user’s manual. DWX-42W users can purchase the AK-1, along with the desired material attachment adapter, through authorized Roland DGA dental dealers or the Roland DGA Online Store.
The new DESS Material Attachment Adapter and DGHAPE’s AK-1 Abutment Kit can be used with MillBox software version 2021 and newer.
